Throughout the year, the children at Gargrave School were able to try and take part in a wide range of sporting events.
Our external provider, Kanga, came into school every term and delivered taster sessions for all the children such as Olympics, Football, Frisbee, Gymnastics, Dodgeball and Multisports. They then ran after school clubs which were very popular.
We are also very proud to have become a Wildcats Centre this year. Every Tuesday, our team of 30 girls play together and learn new football skills and have lots of fun. They will go on to play in a football festival organised on the 23rd of July at Sandylands. We are hoping to continue this weekly club next year as it has proven to be a huge success.
In the autumn term, children travelled to our local swimming pool to take part in swimming lessons and swimming galas. We were proud to be part of the winning team with other local schools and our amazing swimmers, Ethan and Paige brought the trophy back for our special assembly.
KS1 enjoyed their afternoon of basketball with Mark Gunn, Skipton coach. They all learned new skills and had fun playing games outside. They are still practicing during the lunchtime break – It is always great to see some good team spirit!
Y5 have recently completed their Bikeability which took place over two day. They all tried really hard despite the challenging weather. They all looked amazing on their bikes with their helmets, and were really keen to have a go. A special well done to Chloe and Reece who were our super riders this year!
The children have also enjoyed trying new sports such as dance, squash and cricket. It is really nice to see our children taking on new challenges and having a go. It is also great to know all these sports are just on our doorsteps!
Hedley Verity came to coach KS2 Tag Rugby over the summer term. Our teams demonstrated great skills and we all enjoyed going to Sandylands for the finals. Well done! The girls also had the opportunity to travel to Settle to North Ribblesdale Rugby Club to take part in a girls only tag rugby festival. They all played really well and had lots of fun.
