About Us

Our vision at Gargrave Primary School is that “every child counts; every child contributes”. To achieve this we aim that:-

  • Individual learning will be challenging
  • Staff will use the latest tools and techniques
  • Staff, parents and pupils will collaborate to maximise individual learning
  • Gargrave school will be integrated with other activities in the community, an extended school
  • The environment will be conducive to learning
  • We shall be well regarded in the community where every child counts and every child contributes

In consultation with Staff, Governors and parents we have developed a set of core values that underpin and are an integral part of school life. To help our pupils to remember them we have devised the following format:

Respect
Enjoy
Safe
Politeness
Equality
Confidence
Trust
Forgiveness
United
Learning

These principles form the heart of our School and they constitute the basis of our Friday celebration assemblies where children from each year group whose behaviour has exemplified these values are chosen and presented with a white ribbon representing our school 's ethos.

We use a variety of teaching methods to promote learning and provide appropriate resources for all children.  We work in partnership with governors, parents and the wider community, involving them in all aspects of school life by promoting the ethos of an "open school".  We provide a curriculum which meets the individual learning of all the pupils, and develops the distinctive character and ethos, which exists within the local community and beyond. British values are promoted through whole school singing, visits beyond school, including London for the year 6 to learn about democracy and the rule of law.

As a Church of England school we promote a Christian ethos within school and we encourage children to understand and to have tolerance of other faiths, beliefs  and customs.  We provide daily worship for all children.

Please remember we are always available should you wish to talk over anything with us, although, it would be appreciated if you could make an appointment.
